New Subcommittee on History and Statistics of the Argentine Polo Association

The Polo Association has taken a significant step by creating the Subcommittee on History and Statistics, made up of Tucán Pereyra Iraola, Javier Figoli, Pepe Santamarina and Maxi Funes.

This subcommittee, formed a few days ago, aims to review the past, tell the history of polo and use statistics as a marketing tool.

The Need for the Subcommittee

In a conversation with Tucán Pereyra Iraola, he explained that the idea arose from constant consultations with Javier, Maxi, Pepe, Gustavo Sgalla, Nito and other members of the Association. “We always have doubts about the past and that’s when we saw the need to create this commission,” said Tucán. The subcommittee will be tasked with reviewing the past and correcting historical errors, as well as using statistics to promote the sport.

The Use of Statistics in Marketing

A clear example of how statistics can be used in marketing is the data published in the latest edition of Polo Today: 150 teams have played the Argentine Open. “The next club will be welcomed as the 151st and from the AAP that data can be used as marketing,” explained Tucán. In addition, they are planning a great tribute on one of the dates for the 100th anniversary of the gold medal, in collaboration with the Argentine Olympic Committee and the AAP.

Correction of Historical Errors

One of the main objectives of the subcommission is to correct historical errors. For example, it has always been published that the most winning club in history is Coronel Suárez with 25 titles, when in reality there are 26, since the title of Coronel Suárez II of 1983 has not been added. “Like that, there are several things that need to be corrected,” Tucán said.

The creation of this subcommittee marks an important milestone for the Polo Association, as it will allow the rich history of the sport to be preserved and promoted, using statistics effectively for dissemination and marketing.
