43rd Land Rover International Polo Tournament – Day 12 – Silver Cup

The multitude of Silver Cup Medium Goal matches which were played on the pitches of Sotogrande yesterday (six to be exact) were high scoring, much like the opening games on Saturday. Leones won their first game (11-9) against Scapa who had their second loss, as did El Rosario (10-14 Mahra – Esperanza). Enjoying second wins in the Silver Cup were Silex (15-12 Wild Orchid), Los Dragones (10-7 Sapphire – Dr A), Lebeau – Courailly (10-9 Woodchester) and Seven Sevens (12-9 FCT). More action can be seen from these Medium Goal teams on Thursday.
In the High Goal Robert Jornayvaz’s Valiente added another win to their tally this time over Charlie Hanbury’s Halcyon Gallery 11-8. Later King Power met Murus Sanctus, both teams who had also recently come in second when facing the might of Cambiaso, King Power in the Verve Clicquot Gold Cup Final at Cowdray against Dubai and Murus Sanctus in last Sunday’s Silver Cup match.
Following a string of High Goal wins in England and a loss in their first Silver Cup match, it was a happy King Power who ended the game six goals up, with 13 – 7 on the scoreboard, with Murus Sanctus still yet to win a game in the Sotogrande High Goal. In the other 7pm game, Dos Lunas Banco Espirito Santo won their second game of the Silver Cup, having previously defeated King Power in their opening game. This time they beat the Novillo Astrada brothers Eduardo and Alejandro, playing as Los Monjitas, with patron Camilio Bautista and Tomas Fernandez-Llorente 10 -8. Los Monjitas now have one win and one loss to their name.
Today’s polo begins with the opening matches in the Silver Cup Low Goal, with Bronze Cup Low Goal winners Huntsman playing Bayswater who they beat in their first meeting on Spanish soil.
