USPA Lucchese Silver Cup 2014

USPA Lucchese Silver Cup 2014

ERG and Lucchese come away strong with victories in the 2nd round of the USPA Lucchese Silver Cup.

Lucchese (John Muse, Jeff Hall, Sapo Caset, Tommy Collingwood) met FMB (Danny Walker, Inaki Laprida, Lucas Criado, Henry Walker) in the feature match on Sunday. Criado opened the scoring in the first chukker with a quick goal to add to the team’s 1 goal received on handicap. Lucchese finally clicked as a team in this game and answered back with 2 goals to tie the first chukker 2-2. Tommy Collingwood and Jeff Hall added 3 more to the score while FMB was unable to put any points on the board in the 2nd. Criado started off the 3rd chukker with a goal for FMB, but Caset began his scoring run here adding another point for Lucchese to go into halftime 6-3. Caset came off of half time strong scoring a 30 yard penalty and another goal from the field to strengthen their lead 8-3.

The 5th chukker was the strongest offensive chukker for Lucchese with Hall and Caset each scoring 2 more points a piece. Laprida and Criado added 3 more to the tally for FMB, but they trailed by 6 going into the last chukker of play. Caset’s momentum continued as he crushed a 60 yard penalty and scored another goal from the field in addition to another goal by Collingwood to end 15-6.

The second game of the day between ERG (Scott Wood, Remy Muller, Tincho Merlos, Sebi Merlos) and Wildcat (Ryan Gilbertson, Joseph Stuart, Santi Chavanne, Paco de Narvaez) started off as a slow scoring game. De Narvaez scored the first two goals of the match off 40 yard penalty shots, but Scott Wood was determined to put ERG on the board and scored a goal towards the end of the 1st chukker. Chavanne opened the scoring for the 2nd chukker, but once again Scott Wood answered back with a goal for ERG. Wildcat held ERG to a 5-5 tie at halftime. ERG came with an aggressive offensive in the second half scoring 7 goals in the last 3 chukkers. Wildcat was unable to overcome their lead, but managed to get 2 more goals early in the 6th to end 12-7.
