With torrential rains on Saturday drowning out hopes of play in the Hurlingham Open Finals, we went to the annual “Buenos Aires Photo” at the Palais de Glace in Recoleta. With over 38 galleries, consultants and dealers exhibiting the works of South America’s foremost photographers, this fair gives you a feel of the beauty, diversity and creativity to be found across this continent, as well as a clear impression of how the people see themselves.
An exhibitor known to many of you in the polo world was Cata Swinburn (pictured), wife of Chilean 8 goal player Jaime Huidobro. A talented and politically aware photographer, she was exhibiting the impressive results of a collective project she and a group of fellow artists had recently completed in Chile as well as some of her own eye-catching pieces. She will be exhibiting in London in June next year.
