High-goal polo games are being televised weekly at the International Polo Club in Wellington.

WHDT World Sports, based in West Palm Beach, will televise polo matches on a weekly basis throughout the 2010 season.  The coverage of the matches will be taped on Sunday afternoon and televised the following evening.  Additionally, WHDT has expanded its airing of the polo competitions to include Internet access to the “sport of kings”.  By entering X2C.us on your computer keypad, you will be transported to Wellington, through the miracle of television, and be able to watch some of the world’s top players compete in 20-goal and 26-goal match play right through the finals of the US Open Championship in April..

The 20-goal Herbie Pennell Cup is entering its final week of competition, with Wednesday’s semifinals.  Zacara will meet Bendabout at 1 pm and Las Monjitas will face Lechuza at 3 pm.  The finals are slated to be played at noon on Sunday, February 28.

To illustrate the fact that the International Polo Club owns high-goal polo in the United States, the 2010 C. V. Whitney Cup is being played in tandem with the Herbie Pennell Cup.  With the big guns arriving in town (seven 10-goalers will be participating in the 26-goal competition).

Making their way through the single elimination Whitney Cup, Orchard Hill, with Adolfo Cambiaso, will play high-goal newcomer Bob Jornayvaz’s Valiente team at 3 pm while 2009 defending champion Audi, with Facundo and Gonzalito Pieres, will meet on Thursday, February 25th at 4 pm.  The finals of the C. V. Whitney Cup is scheduled to be played on Sunday, February 28th at 3 pm.

A late Bendabout entry in the USPA Piaget Gold Cup and the US Open will return the Bendabout team to 26-goal competition.   Led by Gillian Johnston, the Bendabout team is comprised of Johnston, Sugar Erskine, Jeff Hall and Mike Azzaro, and comes into the tournaments with a 24-goal team handicap.
