An amazing final last Sunday in Apremont

An amazing final last Sunday in Apremont

The spring season just ended on a high note with a simply outstanding final of the Laversine Cup. The summer season takes over with the Coquetier d’Or and the Ladies Cup… while waiting for a stunning comeback with the French Opens and an exhibition game of professional players. Among them, one of the very greatest champions of this sport, Argentine Pablo Mc Donough, handicap 10 and five-time winner of the Argentine Open thanks to its sponsor and official timekeeper of the Polo of Chantilly, Richard Mille.

An avalanche of goals for the final of the highest-level tournament of the weekend, the Laversine Cup, which opposed the Swiss team Marquard Media to the La Quinta locals. An open and quick game where the talent of two scorers was brought to light. On the winners’ side, Marquard Media, it is Argentina’s Martin Agurerre Jr. who scored 10 over 13 goals of his team. No goal was scored on penalty… which is a credit to his opponent, La Quinta, which was whistled at only a few times and would have deserved the fair-play trophy! In this team, the marksman is called Edouard Pan; the French h4 has indeed scored 9 over 10 goals of La Quinta, but including 5 penalties. 23 goals during a final, that’s worthy of the scores of Palermo where is played the best polo in the world!

The “experts” nominated thoroughbred mare Marie Lys best horse of the final. This elegant gray mare was spotted by Pierre Henry Ngoumou who started her, then she completed her training on the field with his current rider, Martin Aguerre. A great success for this new French sector of detection and training of thoroughbred horse, validated by a great Argentine player.

Two others finals were played this week-end, the one of the “4 goals”, the Coupe des Archanges, won by Santa Cruz, and the Champlâtreux Trophy which goes to the Parisian team Mungo, lead by the “teacher”, Thibault Guillemin, handicap 4 who conducts the Polo schools of Paris and Chantilly.

But of course, the game that was absolutely not to miss was that epic final of the Laversine Cup.

Those who were absent were in the wrong.

Yet, they will be able to catch up during the month of July with two great tournaments, including one exclusively feminine, the Ladies Polo Cup, which begins on Wednesday (the program is being finalized and will be available on polodechantilly.com) and which final will be played next Sunday. One more opportunity to discover this sport on the feminine side, softer, more elegant, prologue of the Feminine French Open which will take place in September.

A dazzling return in September awaits the polo amateurs with, as the Opening of the French Open, an exhibition game proposed by the watchmaker Richard Mille, which will allow a legendary player, the handicap 10 Pablo McDonough, to demonstrate the extent of his talent.
Pablo McDonough therefore cooks up a 25 goals game with the Polo Club of Chantilly and the professionals players who will be present at the club at that time for the French Open.
This will be the highest level game that will be played in Europe this year!

The “mixed” French Open is the highest level tournament held in Europe during September, and will make the Polo Club of Chantilly one of the largest gathering in the world as nearly 800 horses will be concentrated on the land of the Ferme d’Apremont!

The entrance is free of charges and open to discover this magical sport in a delightful green surroundings.
