Team Audemars Piguet (AP) Singapore defeated Team Audemars Piguet (AP) Internationals 9-8 in the Audemars Piguet International Polo 2010 Gold Cup Match (10-12 goals) at the Singapore Polo Club on Sunday 6 June 2010.


International polo player, Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras scored a total of five goals for Team AP Singapore. Local professional, Sattar Khan and Ameer Jumabhoy contributed three goals and one goal respectively. Jeff Hardee, Polo Captain of the Singapore Polo Club and also Team Captain, completed the quartet representing Team AP Singapore.


This year, the format for the Gold Cup Match was changed slightly, in order to give more local players the opportunity to participate in international events. Ang Roon Kai (Team P Internationals), the youngest player in this tournament at 19 years of age won the Most Valuable Player Award. The Best Playing Polo Pony award was presented to Curious, owned by Singapore Polo Club member, Maureen Miller.


The Gold Cup match was well attended by over 800 guests, with Mr. Teo Ser Luck, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Youth Sports performing the traditional throw-in ceremony with the President of the Singapore Polo Club, Mr. Iqbal Jumabhoy.


The 5-day prestigious tournament also consisted of the BDG Cup Silver League (6 to 8 goals) which featured four teams: Audemars Piguet Team Singapore, BDG Bank Team Argentina, Wine Investment Fund Team Australia and Equity Estates Team New Zealand, competing in a round-robin format for the BDG Cup Silver League title. At the end of the Final on Saturday 5 June, Audemars Piguet Team Singapore defeated the rest of the teams to win the title. The 2nd placing went to BDG Bank Team Argentina while 3rd and 4th placing went to Equity Estates Team New Zealand and Wine Investment Fund Team Australia respectively.
