Audi Polo Challenge 2016
Team Audi ultra storms to victory at the Audi Polo Challenge
The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry helped lead their team to victory at the 2016 Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park, Ascot.
One of the sporting and social highlights of the summer calendar saw England’s top polo players and VIPs come together in support of two charities close to the hearts of The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry: Sentebale and the Tusk Trust.
Sentebale was founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, with the sole aim of helping vulnerable children and young people living with HIV in Lesotho in southern Africa. To date, Sentebale, meaning ‘forget me not’ in the native Lesotho language, runs over 50 monthly clubs helping over 2,000 adolescents, enlightening a generation and leading the way to ending the AIDS epidemic.
The Duke of Cambridge is also Patron to the Tusk Trust, a charity which uses wildlife conservation as a means to alleviate poverty, improve education and reduce conflict. Tusk is currently playing a vital role in halting the illegal wildlife trade, which is continuing to decimate Africa’s elephant, rhino and lion populations.
The polo game itself saw the Audi ultra team, featuring The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, go head-to-head with team Audi quattro, a select foursome. The line-up included top professional polo players, including Freddie Mannix, the second highest rated Canadian player and Ollie Cudmore, who became the youngest England player to compete in The Coronation Cup in 2014.
After four wonderfully entertaining and fiercely competitive chukkas, Audi ultra prevailed by 5 goals to 4.
More than 300 guests joined Audi for this exclusive, invitation-only event. VIPs in attendance included Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Matt Smith, Sophie Turner, Ophelia Lovibond, James Nesbitt, Jeremy Irvine and Nick Mason.
Guests enjoyed afternoon tea before the polo, followed by a special dinner created by Herbert Brindl, Executive Sous Chef at Coworth Park. This evening’s incredible entertainment will be provided by the Grammy-nominated global superstar Ellie Goulding.
Over the last decade, Audi has raised more than £2 million for various charities supported by The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
