Team Audi ultra triumphs again at day two of the Audi Polo Challenge
The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry joined the undefeated Audi ultra team on the field for a second time at the 2016 Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park, Ascot on Sunday 29 May.
One of the sporting and social highlights of the summer calendar saw England’s top polo players and VIPs come together in support of two charities close to the hearts of The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry: Well Child and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
WellChild is dedicated to providing care and support to children with long-term medical conditions, helping families on their journey from hospital back to home. Money raised by the 2016 Audi Polo Challenge will allow WellChild to extend essential support to children who would otherwise spend long periods in hospital.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity has been a beneficiary of the Audi Polo Challenge since 2006, raising over £130,000, which goes towards pioneering work at The Royal Marsden, Europe’s leading cancer treatment and research hospital. This year’s Audi Polo Challenge will be supporting the work of the hospital‘s play specialists, who help young children cope with their fears, a vital role in their treatment.
The polo game itself saw the Audi ultra team, featuring The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, go head-to-head with team Audi quattro, a select foursome. The line-up included James Beim, the current England Captain who has now won every major UK title.
Following a tense, action-packed game of four chukkas the final score was 7 goals to 6 to team Audi ultra.
More than 300 guests joined Audi for this exclusive, invitation-only event. VIPs in attendance included Gemma Arterton, Clive Owen, Dominic Cooper, Megan Mullally, and Laura Whitmore.
Guests enjoyed afternoon tea before the polo, followed by a special dinner created by Herbert Brindl, Executive Sous Chef at Coworth Park. The evening’s incredible entertainment will be provided by the critically acclaimed artist, Jack Savoretti.
Over the last decade, Audi has raised more than £2 million for various charities supported by the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
