Hackett British Army Polo Team to Play Tour-Ending Match at Ghantoot

Royal Abu Dhabi Club Extends Hospitality to British Side

The Hackett British Army Polo Team has accepted a challenge from Ghantoot Polo Team this weekend as the two sides meet for a special event at Abu Dhabi’s Royal club.


His Highness Sheikh Falah bin Zayed al Nahyan, chairman of Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club and the facility’s board of directors extended the invitation to the Hackett British Army Polo Team. 


The match will represent the tour-ending date on the British outfit’s three-day visit to the UAE, where they will also play in Dubai on Friday 18 March.


Dignitaries and officials from the UK and China will also attend the exclusive polo day.


Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club Vice Chairman, HE Saeed Bin Houfan said: “We are proud to welcome the British Army Polo Club to Ghantoot. We feel this polo day will be a fitting end to the British Army team’s time in the UAE and look forward to extending our famed Arabian hospitality to our honoured British guests.


“Great Britain and the UAE has a long historical relationship and we are delighted that Ghantoot can play a part in the continuation of this important friendship between our two nations.”


Ghantoot polo captain, Nasser al Shamsi said: “I was once honoured to play polo against Prince Charles and to welcome to our club a team that has fielded the his sons is really very exciting. I look forward to a great, competitive polo match, played in the spirit of friendship and respect between our two countries.”


The gates open to the public at 3pm while the match starts at 430pm.
