MINT TEAM LONDON SET TO DO BATTLE WITH ARGENTEX TEAM DUBAI

MINT Team London will face Argentex Team Dubai in the opening day’s action at Chestertons Polo in the Park following the official team draw to launch the 2016 event, on Thursday 5 May, 2016.

As the sun set on a glorious evening at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London Robert Bartlett, CEO of Chestertons, conducted the draw in front of an array of the world’s top players, sponsors and guests to determine the fixtures for the opening day of Chestertons Polo in the Park, International Friday, on Friday 3 June.

The opening match of Chestertons Polo in the Park 2016 will see Team New York face Jnan Amar Polo Club Team Marrakech, an encounter Marrakech’s Jack Richardson is looking forward to. “Playing at Chestertons Polo in the Park is a terrific experience. I love playing in front of such large crowds and the adapted rules really do make for a fast and furious competition as well as bringing the action right up close to the spectators.”

Defending champions, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Team Hong Kong, once again led by Jamie Morrison, were drawn against Air Europa Team Buenos Aires before the final match of International Friday will see the local favourites MINT Team London take on Argentex Team Dubai.

Following the success of 2015’s debut International Match at Chestertons Polo in the Park, Team England will again return to the iconic Hurlingham Park, Fulham, in what will be one of 2016’s must see sporting fixtures. Having been defeated in 2015, Team England will be desperate to record a victory when they take on fierce rivals, AwakeConBal Team South Africa, in this year’s City AM International Match.

England Polo team captain, James Beim said: “Last year’s international match had an unbelievable atmosphere and was one of the highlights of my year. I can’t wait to return to the spiritual home of Polo, Hurlingham Park, to face AwakeConBal Team South Africa, let’s hope we can give the home crowd lots to cheer about.”

Managing director of Sportgate International, the organisers of Chestertons Polo in the Park, Rory Heron said: “We are so excited about this year’s Chestertons Polo in the Park and can’t wait to see terrific action on and off the pitch. I am particularly excited about the addition this year of The Great Polo Food Festival, it will be amazing to see a host of London’s top restaurants and street food vendors alongside world-class sport in the heart of London.”
