Colonel Paul Belcher

 

The Chairman and Board of Directors at Guards Polo Club are sad to announce the death of Colonel Paul Belcher, Chairman of Guards Polo Club from 2002 – 2012.

He was 79. Colonel Belcher, a former serving officer in the Welsh Guards, was a popular Chairman who steered the Club through some of its most historic moments, including the 50th anniversary celebrations and the creation and official opening of the new Clubhouse in 2009 by HM Queen Elizabeth ll.

Jock Green Armytage, who succeeded Paul as Chairman said when taking up the reins: “Paul will be a hard act to follow as his wise counsel, especially during the immediate period following [the Club’s Chief Executive Charlie Stisted’s] death has always been much valued by me, my fellow Board members and the staff at Smith’s Lawn.”

Colonel Belcher’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 11 June at 11am at St Peter’s Church, Linchmere Rd, Linchmere, Haslemere GU27 3NG. If you wish to write to Sanda Belcher please do so c/o Guards Polo Club, Smith’s Lawn, Windsor Great Park, Surrey TW20 0HP.
