Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series

Abu Dhabi remains unbeaten and UAE Polo achieves first victory in the Julius Baer Gold Cup 

 

Abu Dhabi Polo won their second match in a row and UAE Polo achived the first victory in the tournament after defeating Desert Palm and Zedan in a great double action day at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club for the Julius Baer Gold Cup 2017. 

 

Abu Dhabi defeated Desert Palm by 7 goals to 6 while UAE did the same against Zedan by 7 goals to 4.

 

The two matches were really even and both have been decided in the last chukker.

 

UAE and Zedan played a tight match with even score and actions through almost all the game. 

Finally in the fourth chukker, UAE achieved a 1 goal advantage to break off the even score and increased the gap in the last seven minutes with Jack Hyde playing at a great level and scoring two consecutive goals for the 7-4 victory. 

Hyde was the top scorer of the match with 5 goals.

UAE Polo: 1-1/ 3-3/ 3-3/ 4-3/ 7-4

 

In the second match of the day, actions were almost similtar to the first game. Abu Dhabi started at full speed in the first chukker for a 3-0 lead but had to wait till the third chukker to score again (4-3).

Desert Palm made a great comeback in that period to close the gap to one goal and in the fourth chukker took the lead by 6-5.

The last chukker was full of excitement with Abu Dhabi scoring in the first minutes for a 6 goal apiece and with both teams battling hard for the victory till the end. A great action by Alfredo Capellla, with one minute to go, finally gave Abu Dhabi the winning goal and the victory by 7 goals to 6.

The Julius Baer Gold Cup continues tomorrow with another double action day at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. 

Starting at 2pm, Bangash Polo will face Bin Drai followed by Julius Baer Team by Habtoor against Mahra Polo.
