Ellerstina, La Dolfina win in Hurlingham Open

ELLERSTINA,
LA DOLFINA WIN in HURLINGHAM OPEN

Both Ellerstina and La Dolfina scored wins in their
opening round matches in Hurlingham Open competition Sunday afternoon.  Just three days after registering a 12-11 win
over La Dolfina in the finals of the Tortugas Open, Ellerstina showed power,
control and discipline as they delivered a 15-11 beating to an out-gunned La
Aguada/Las Monjitas foursome.

Ellerstina took control early, with stabbing attacks by
Facundo and Gonzalito Pieres putting La Aguada/Las Monjitas on the defensive
from the onset.

By the end of the second chukker Ellerstina was ahead by
three goals, 6-3, and showed no signs of a letup.

Mariano Aguerre showed acute field control as he directed
the three Pieres brothers in onset after onset.
At the end of the first half, La Aguada/Las Monjitas trailed by six
goals, 11-5.

Offensive thrusts by Magoo Laprida and Lucas James were
turned aside while the talented Eduardo Novillo Astrada was muted for much of
the game.

Ellerstina continued to dominate, holding a 15-9 lead in
the seventh chukker before coasting to a 15-11 final win.

LA
DOLFINA 22, MAGUAL 10

Jaime Huidobro and company might have been the darlings
of the qualifying rounds of the Hurlingham Open and Palermo, but they were
abused by La Dolfina in Sunday’s noon match at the Hurlingham Club in a 22-10
thrashing.

Perhaps out of frustration from their last outing (a loss
in the finals of the Tortugas Open to Ellerstina), La Dolfina came out with
guns blazing as they took an early 3-0 first chukker lead and ran it up to a
thirteen goal halftime lead, 15-2!

Magual managed to save some face, outscoring La Dolfina
8-7 over the second half of play, but it was evident that La Dolfina could do
whatever they wanted to on the field and chose to save the horses for another
day as they delivered a knockout punch in the
22-10 win.

Hurlingham Open play will continue on Wednesday afternoon
with La Dolfina (1-0) meeting Alegria (0-1) followed by a contest featuring
Pilara Piaget (1-0) and Magual (0-1).  On
Thursday, November 1st La Natividad (1-0) will play La Aguada/Las
Monjitas followed by a duel between Ellerstina (1-0) and La Aguada (0-1).
