Jerome Wirth’s Enigma beat Jean-François Decaux’s La Bamba de Areco 12-10 Monday to remain undefeated in league play for the Cartier Queen’s Cup at Guards Polo Club.

The two French patrons each had a 10-goaler on his team, Juan Martin Nero for Enigma and Facundo Pieres for La Bamba de Areco, but it was Nero, together with teammate Matias MacDonough, who outplayed the opposition.

Pieres scored first in the opening chukka, but patron Wirth equalised for Enigma before Pieres struck again to put La Bamba de Areco 3-2 ahead at the bell.

Enigma outscored La Bamba de Areco in the second period, including another goal by the patron, to tie the match 5-5. Each team scored a single goal in the next chukka to keep the game tied 6-6 at halftime.

Enigma held La Bamba de Areco scoreless in the next two periods, chalking up six goals to lead 12-6. La Bamba denied Enigma any goals in the sixth chukka and scored four, but their rally came too late.

Meanwhile, the Hanburys’ El Remanso also remained undefeated in their league when they dominated Amad Aboughazale’s Sumaya 12-8.

League play for the Cartier Queen’s Cup finishes tomorrow when Piaget meet Richard Mille at Guards.
