Two matches got the 2013 Primavera March 12-goal underwayas Goose Creek scored a 7-6 win over Jan Pamela while Yellow Cab fell to IberiaBank, 9-8 to set up Friday’s finals and consolation match in the four goalfield.

Goose Creek’s Tano Vial scored the first two goals in themorning matchup with Jam Pamela.  Vialconverted a 60-yard Safety for the first goal and drove the ball through theJan Pamela goalposts for the second goal of the game, 2-0.  Jan Pamela’s Steve Dalton answered with afinal goal to cut the Goose Creek to a single goal, 2-1.

Both defenses stepped up in the second period, ending anyoffensive contributions by either side.  Aftertwo chukkers, Goose Creek maintained its 2-1, one goal lead.

Jan Pamela got back on track in the third chukker.  Dalton’s second goal came from the field anda third on a 60-yard penalty conversion. Jan Pamela had taken the lead, 3-2. Vial scored for the third time to close out the chukker.  At the midway mark, Jan Pamela and GooseCreek were deadlocked at 3-3.

In a defensive-oriented fourth chukker Jan Pamela’s TommyCollingwood scored the only score of the period on a goal from the field.  Goose Creek was shutout and trailed at theend of the chukker, 4-3.

Cote Zegers scored twice from the field in the fifth forGoose Creek, but a single goal from Jan Pamela’s Mason Wroe had it all even at5-5 with one chukker left to play.

Dalton scored his fourth goal of the day on a 40-yardpenalty conversion, but Goose Creek answered back.  A goal from the field from Zegers and a60-yard penalty goal from Vial won the game, 7-6.

Vial led the Goose Creek team with four goals.  Zegers added three goals for thevictory.  Dalton scored four times forJan Pamela.  Collingwood and Wroe eachadded a goal in the loss.

IBERIABANK 9, YELLOW CAB 8

Displaying the parity of the field in the second one goalgame of the day, Iberia Bank registered a 9-8 win over Yellow Cab, earning aberth in Friday’s tournament finals against Goose Creek.

The eleven goal Iberia Bank team received one goal byhandicap and quickly added to it with a goal from the field from Luis Escobarfor a 2-0 advantage.  Yellow Cabresponded with a penalty goal from Tavi Usandizaga and a goal from the fieldfrom his brother, Guille Usandizaga for an opening chukker 2-2 tie.

Iberia Bank poured it on in the second with two moregoals from Escobar, one from the field and one on a Safety conversion for a 4-2lead, Yellow Cab was unable to get on the scoreboard in the second chukker ofplay.

Yellow Cab cut into the Iberia Bank lead in the thirdperiod, picking goals from Tavi Usandizaga on a 40-yard penalty shot and BillPatterson.  A single goal from Gabriel Crespo kept Iberia Bank in the lead, 5-4, at the end of the first half ofplay.

A 40-yard penalty conversion from Escobar extended theIberia Bank lead to two goals with a penalty goal in the fourth, 6-4.  The Usandizaga brothers each scored a goal inthe chukker and after four periods of play it was all even at 6-6.

Iberia Bank wrested control of the game back from YellowCab in the fifth.  A penalty goal fromJared Zenni and Escobar’s fifth goal of the game gave the lead back to IberiaBank, 8-6.  Tavi Usandizaga scored theteam’s only goal of the chukker in the fifth and here team was getting readyfor the 6th chukker showdown.

Goals were hard to come by in the sixth, with TaviUsandizaga scoring the first goal of the chukker for an 8-8 tie.  Two minutes later Escobar scored on a greatindividual effort for a 9-8 lead that they would preserve until the final hornsounded.

Escobar led all scoring with six goals.  Zenni and Crespo scored single goals in thewin and the team received one goal by handicap. Yellow Cab’s Tavi Usandizaga scored five times in a losing effort.  Guille Usandizaga added two goals and BillPatterson scored once.
