Hurlingham Club Open – Day 1

Facundo-Pieres-Dubai-La-Natividad-vs.-Alfredo-Bigatti-La-Ensenada

On Tuesday 9/24, at the Alfredo Lalor headquarters that the AAP owns in Pilar, the 131st Hurlingham Club Open presented by Triumph began, in which the traditional Ayrshire Cup and the Drysdale Subsidiary are at stake.

On the day it opened its 40 handicap goals and entered the group of – so far – six clubs that achieved it throughout the history of the Triple Crown (along with Coronel Suárez, La Espadaña, Indios Chapaleufú I, Ellerstina and La Dolfina), La Natividad defeated La Hache Cría & Polo with great authority by 27 to 12 on court 6 and is the first semifinalist of the tournament.

Let’s remember that this tournament kicks off the Triple Crown and is played with direct elimination, starting in the Quarterfinals. In this way, the losing team will continue its path in the semis for the Drysdale Subsidiary.

After an overwhelming start by the La Natividad team, which went 9-0 midway through the second chukker, La Hache C&P began to settle on the field and try to make the defending champion of Tortugas and Palermo uncomfortable. Although at times they were able to show a good game, commanded from the back by Joaco Pittaluga and Benja Panelo, the Cañuelas team did not take their foot off the gas throughout the day and with an imposing Jeta Castagnola in front of the rival wickets -author of 12 goals-, they took a great victory that deposits them in the first semifinal of the tournament.

To highlight the great scoring distributed by La Natividad and the enormous number of great goals that there were in the match, in which there was also not a single technical foul.

In the second match played on Tuesday 9/24 for the opening day of the 131st Hurlingham Club Open presented by Triumph, in which the traditional Ayrshire Cup and the Drysdale Subsidiary are at stake, La Hache Polo Team beat Cría La Dolfina by 20 to 12 on court No. 1 and thus qualified for the first semifinal of the tournament. in which they will face La Natividad next Saturday 28 on court 2 in Palermo, in what will be a great game.

Great game from the team led by Hilario Ulloa, who with 15 goals from a Polito Pieres who showed himself as in his best times, achieved a huge victory against the always tough team of Cría La Dolfina, who fought side by side in the first two periods but then faded and was outplayed by their rival, who took a fair win in Tommy Panelo’s debut right against his former teammates. Now, the team from La Hache will seek the final against the team of the Castagnola brothers; while those from Cañuelas will face the other Hache, Cría and Polo, for a place in the definition of the subsidiary Drysdale.
