The Whitbread Tankard has quickly become one of the standout fixtures of the international season, showcasing the next generation of talent from two of polo’s strongest nations. Young England claimed victory in 2024 before Young Argentina levelled the recent series with success in 2025, setting the stage for another fiercely contested encounter.

Attention then turns to the Coronation Cup, first played in 1911 and one of the most prestigious international trophies in the sport. Uruguay returns to the Queen’s Ground for the first time since 2022, when England secured a memorable 11-9 victory in a thrilling contest. That match saw current England captain Tommy Beresford make his Coronation Cup debut, while Louis Hine became the youngest England player ever to win the trophy at just 17 years old.

Looking ahead to this year’s fixture, England captain Tommy Beresford said:

“It’s very exciting – we had a really tight game a few years ago so it’s great to have a rematch against them. It’s a tough challenge – they’re a great team with a lot of experience in four-man polo, and Pélon [Stirling, Uruguay captain] is arguably one of the best players in the history of the game. We all have our sights set on the Coronation Cup.”

With world-class polo, a fantastic atmosphere and two international matches on one ticket, International Day offers a brilliant day out for both lifelong polo supporters and those discovering the sport for the first time.

Hospitality and fieldside parking have now sold out, but grandstand seating is still available. Don’t miss your chance to watch England compete for the Coronation Cup and support the next generation of stars in the Whitbread Tankard.
