IV Copa de las Naciones “Guillermo LI 2011”

During the Peruvian Summer Season, Cortijo Polo Club, located 75km. south of Lima, hosts the international polo tournament “Copa de las Naciones” (Nations Cup) in honor of Guillermo Li. Definitely one of the top tournaments of their season, this years “IV Copa de las Naciones – Guillermo Li 2011” had 8 teams, each with at least one international player from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, United States and/or Ecuador.


Privileged with a spectacular location between the mountains and the beach, the tournament was held during 2 weekends (from January 28to February 5) counting with an international and professional Argentinean umpire. During the week, while the horses rested and the fields where getting ready again, the international polo visitors and friends experienced touristic and gourmet activities in Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lima.


The final was played between Colombia – Caña Brava and Chile – Tres Marias. After the awards ceremony the theams and friends celebrated at closing party.


Marcelo Ramos was the tournaments Most Valuable Player; Guillermo Li was the tournaments goaler; Hector Cabezas received the “Fair Play” Award and, “La Barbie”, owned and played by Gonzalo Siles, was priced as the best playing pony.


This years tournament was presented by Cortijo Polo Club and organized by Escuela de Polo GLi (GLi Polo School), brought by following sponsors: Ron Cartavio XO, Karen Mitre Accessories, Cosas magazine, Mobilia real state, Jockey Plaza, Peroni, Land Rover and Murguia Jewelry, and supported bye the Peruvian Polo Association.
