JERSEY’S FIRST BEACH POLO TOURNAMENT  IS SPECTACULAR SUCCESS

The inaugural Jersey Beach Polo tournament held yesterday in the stunning St Brelades Bay, was a huge success with over 2,000 spectators.  30 ponies arrived in the Island on Tuesday and had beach practice Tuesday evening before their match on Wednesday.

As the tide went out the arena was built in glorious sunshine and at 3pm the polo started.

There were four teams playing Banjo, team captain was Andrew Hine and local Jersey player Ian Tait and Alec Banner-Eve, Team Spar captained by Stirling McGregor, Mike Revell and Matias Carrique, Team Newton, team captain Charlie Wood, Richard le Poer and Caroline Mair and Zolfo Cooper, team captain Tarquin Southwell, Peter Saville, Danny Muriel.

The final match between Banjo and Zolfo Cooper was a close fought one and went to a 4 all tie and a final chukka saw Banjo score another goal.

All the players thoroughly enjoyed playing on the beach in the 100m x 50m arena.

The Uber Best Playing pony went to Tarquin Southwell’s Vista

The Images of Polo Most Valuable Player award went to Alec Banner Eve
