Katie Price is to be the official patron of the inaugural Duke of Essex Polo Trophy, which will see Great Britain take on Argentina at the Gaynes Park Estate in Epping, Essex, this Saturday, 4th July.

The two teams will line up to raise money for Katie’s chosen charity VISION. She has decided to become involved with the sport in a bid to make polo more accessible to everyone. “I would like to shatter the image of polo as an elitist sport. It takes an enormous amount of skill and courage to ride a polo pony in a competitive match”.

This event comes hot on the heels of Polo in the Park, which also used some innovative ideas to attract more people to the game. The day will also offer a variety of entertainment, including show jumping. Katie is a skilled horsewoman in her own right, competing in advanced dressage competitions and keeps several horses.

The Great Britain team consists of Kenny Hunt, Brett Manning and the Talamoni brothers, Nico and Lucas, while Argentina sees Fran Pizzaro, Jon Barry, Frederico Boudou and Humi Pizzaro take to the field.

This annual event hopes to deliver top class polo to an audience who might never have been to a match in the grounds of one of Essex’s finest stately homes.
