Kent and Curwen, the quintessential English menswear brand was the title sponsor for the third year running of The Kent and Curwen Royal Charity Polo Cup this past weekend, Saturday July 19, 2014 at the private grounds of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Berkshire Estate, Watership Down.  

Over 400 VIP guests were treated to a day of Royal polo, English hospitality and auctions, all in support of Sentebale and Tusk Trust, HRH Prince Henry of Wales and HRH The Duke of Cambridge’s respective charities.

Special guests of the event included Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber, Sabrina Fung, David Gandy, Jade Parfitt and Jack Dyson, Samantha Barks and Richard Fleeshman, Jamal Edwards, Chris Weitz, Pattie Boyd, Lady Penelope Mountbatten, Peter Rooney and Kent and Curwen brand ambassador’s former footballer Michael Owen and singer Aaron Kwok. 

As guests arrived to the beautiful setting of Watership Down, players took to the field to warm up for the Xerjoff Silver Cup, four chukkas of exhilarating polo serving as a perfect background to their champagne reception.

Sophie Michell, Executive Chef from Belgraves’ Hotel, Pont Street restaurant prepared a delicious three course menu for guests to enjoy accompanied by a traditional English Afternoon Tea. Meanwhile, the eccentric Mayfair bar, Mr Fogg’s had a Victorian inspired pop-up in a colonial style tent, serving all guests refreshing exclusive cocktails throughout the course of the afternoon.

As the day continued, the Westcombe Group and the BP Polo teams prepped their horses and uniforms for the main event of the day. The Duke of Cambridge and HRH Prince Henry of Wales teamed up with high goal Thai Polo patron, Harald Link and 7 goal English player, James Beim playing for Westcombe Group to take on BP Polo’s brother’s Chevy and Joevy Beh and their father Dato Beh along with CEO and Chairman of Thompson Hotels, Dr Aron Harilela. 

After a very exciting match, Westcombe Group took the win 7 – 5 to lift The 2014 Kent and Curwen Royal Charity Polo Cup. Tiffany & Co. as the official prize partner of the day presented their beautiful turquoise boxes to the players with The Tiffany & Co Most Valuable Player award being given to HRH Prince Henry of Wales. The Debretts Best Playing Pony was named Pigmea, played by BP Polo’s Chevy Beh in the last chukka of the game. Luxury fragrances from Italian perfumery, Xerjoff were generously presented to the players at the official event prize giving.
