Kingscote Cup 2012

Kingscote Cup 2012

Charlie Gordon-Watson’s Felix beat Max Kirchhoff’s Snakebite five to five-and-a-half to take the Kingscote Cup in the finale of the 6 Goal Victor Ludorum series.

A close run finish in this the inaugural year, the Kingscote proved popular as ever with a remarkably strong field. Both Snakebite and Felix dominated throughout the league stages and won their semi–finals by substantial three-and-a-half and four goal margins respectively.

The final couldn’t have been closer however, both teams eventually meeting their match. It was Felix though who dominated the first two chukkas; two goals a piece from Dave Miller and Mathew Perry and one from Charlie Gordon-Watson left them with a very comfortable five-and-a-half to 1 goal lead at half time. A staggering comeback from Snakebite however rendered Felix goal-less from then on with David Ashby and Michael Henderson flourishing throughout the second half. Time was not on their side however and Felix held onto their early lead by the narrowest of margins, the bell ringing seconds after David Ashby scored Snakebite’s fifth goal.

Blenheim Palace took the Vale Bowl subsidiary trophy, beating Shibumi Nova four goals to three.
