La Aguada beats Chapaleufú;
remains undefeated at Hurlingham

Following a fall and injury to La Aguada’s Nacho Novillo
Astrada (broken left collarbone) in Hurlingham Open play against Chapaleufú on
Saturday, October 19, the two teams resumed play where they left off, forty
seconds into the third chukker, with La Aguada leading 3-2.  South African 7-goaler Nachi Du Plessis replaced
the sidelined Nacho Novillo Astrada.

Eduardo Heguy converted a penalty shot as action got
underway, tying the game at 3-3. 
Consecutive La Aguada goals ended the chukker with La Aguada in the
lead, 5-3.

The two teams traded goals in the fourth, each registering a
pair of goals.  The first half ended with
La Aguada maintaining a two goals lead, 7-5.

Pepe Heguy cut the lead back to a single goal with the
opening goal of the fifth period, 7-6. 
La Aguada closed out the chukker with consecutive goals to extend the
lead to three goals, 9-6.

Goals were hard to come by in the sixth.  The two teams each managed a single
goal.  With two chukkers left in
regulation play, La Aguada sat on top of a 10-7 score.

La Aguada racked up four goals in the seventh chukker while Chapaleufú
struggled to score twice.  The La Aguada
lead stood at five goals, 14-9, going into the final period.

In eighth chukker play, Chapaleufú outscored La Aguada for
the first time all day, 3-2, but it wasn’t enough.  La Aguada left the field with their second
win,16-12, and a showdown with La Dolfina (2-0)  on Friday, October 25th to decide
the tournament’s first finalist.

Facundo Sola set the pace for the La Aguada attack with
seven goals (three on penalty conversions). 
Miguel Novillo Astrada scored four times; Guillermo Terrera added three
and Nachi Du Plessis chipped in a pair of goals for the victory.  Francisco Elizalde and Bautista Heguy scored
four goals apiece for Chapaleufú. 
Eduardo Heguy converted three penalty shots for goals and Pepe Heguy
scored once from the field.

Hurlingham Open action continues on Tuesday, October 22 with
La Natividad (1-0) meeting Magual (0-1) followed by a battle between Ellerstina
(1-0) and La Aguada/Las Monjitas. 
Ellerstina will take the field with Paco de Narvaez replacing the
injured Nico Pieres (muscle tear).
