By Alex Webbe

Chapa
Uno (1-1) got back in the mix on Saturday with a hard-fought 13-12 win over
Pilara Piaget (1-1) with a final winning goal scored by Brazilian 8-goaler
Rodrigo Andrade.

Pilara
Piaget’s Magoo Laprida scored the first goal of the game in a low scoring 1-0
first chukker, but Chapa Uno stormed back in the second.  Sapo Caset scored once from the field and
once on a penalty shot while teammates Rodrigo Andrade and Pablo Pieres added
single goals.  Laprida scored the only
goal of the period for Pilara Piaget as Chapa took a 4-2 lead after two.

Pilara
Piaget’s Luke Tomlinson (filling in for the injured Tomas Garcia Del Rio)
opened the third chukker with a penalty conversion followed by a goal from the
field from Hilario Ulloa to knot it up at 4-4.
Caset kept Chapa Uno on top, 5-4,  with a penalty goal to end the chukker.

Bautista
scored for Pilara Piaget to tie it at 5-5 in the fourth, but Caset’s third
penalty goal of the game had Chapa Uno on top 6-5 at the end of the first half.

Heguy
and Caset exchanged penalty goals in the fifth, with Tomlinson’s first goal
from the field locking it up at 7-7.  A
final penalty conversion from Caset ended the period with Chapa Uno holding on
to a narrow one goal lead, 8-7.

Caset
stretched the Chapa Uno lead to two goals, 9-7, to open the sixth chukker, but
three unanswered goals from Pilara Piaget’s Ulloa, Tomlinson (penalty shot) and
Laprida gave Pilara Piaget a 10-9 edge as the period ended.

A
pair of penalty conversions from Tomlinson extended the Pilara Piaget lead to
three goals, 12-9, as the seventh chukker began, but Andrade and Pieres kept it
close with single goals, and Chapa Uno trailed by a single goal, 12-11, with
one chukker left in regulation time.

Caset
tied it at 12-12 with his sixth penalty goal of the match, and Andrade scored
the winning goal as the Chapa Uno defense was able to shut down the Pilara
Piaget offense for the first time all afternoon.

Caset
led all scoring with eight goals.
Andrade scored three times and Pieres added two goals in the win.

Tomlinson
scored five times for Pilara Piaget (four by penalty).  Laprida added three and teammates Heguy and Ulloa

LA DOLFINA 20, ESTANCIA

There
appeared to be no love lost as Adolfo Cambiaso and his new-look La Dolfina
(2-1) lineup faced two of his old teammates in the second contest of the day.

Merlos scored the first goal of the game before La Dolfina responded with five
straight goals.

Adolfo
Cambiaso scored once from the field and once on a penalty shot while teammate
Pablo MacDonough added a goal as La Dolfina took an early 3-1 lead.

Juan
Martin Nero made it 4-1 in the second and a penalty conversion from Cambiaso
had La Dolfina up 5-1 ads the second chukker ended.

Merlos scored the first two goals of the third period before the Estancia
Grande (0-2) offense bogged down.  Cambiaso
scored a goal from the field, and the chukker ended with La Dolfina ahead, 6-3.

but Estancia Grande wasn’t ready to roll over, yet.  Two goals from Lucas Monteverde and a penalty
goal from Agustin Merlos cut into the La Dolfina lead.  Two more goals from Cambiaso (one from the
field and one on a penalty shot) kept La Dolfina in front with a four goal,
10-6 advantage as thje first half came to an end.

La Dolfina
cranked it up again in the fifth, getting a pair of goals from MacDonough and
single scoring efforts from Cambiaso and Stirling.  Estancia Grande managed two more penalty goals
from Agustin Merlos, and La Dolfina took a 14-8 lead to the sidelines with
them.

The
sixth chukker was all La Dolfina.  Two
penalty conversions from Cambiaso were sandwiched between single goals from
Monteverde and MacDonough as the La Dolfina lead stood at eight goals, 17-9.

The
La Dolfina shut down any semblance of an attack in the seventh period while
picking up three more goals from Cambiaso (one from the field and two on
penalty conversions).  With one chukker
left to play, La Dolfina held an eleven goal advantage over a beaten Estancia
Grande foursome.

With
La Dolfina saving the horses for another day, Agustin Merlos was allowed the
only goal of the final chukker in a 20-10 La Dolfina blowout.

Cambiaso
scored twelve times for La Dolfina.
MacDonough accounted for four goals and Stirling and Nero added two
