Lady Luck Ladies International Polo Tournament

Windsor Polo Club Richmond, Australia – 7th November 2010

The 2010 Lady Luck International Women’s Polo Tournament saw the worlds finest female polo players vie for the coveted Ladies International Trophy and UJ Meally Cup. The tournament marked the meeting of top female  player Kirsty Sullivan for the Angus and Coote Australian Team and the worlds leading female player Nina Clarkin in a ride off. 


Over 700 polo enthusiasts journeyed to Windsor Polo Club, Richmond to enjoy the tournament, where fun was to be had on and off the field. The Breast Cancer Foundation provided 15 pink umbrella prizes which were wedged in grass and contenders raced to retrieve them across the polo field. Punters also tried their luck at winning a $25,000 Harley Davidson donated by Trivett, by mounting a wooden polo horse and trying to hit a goal in one with a polo mallett but alas there was no winner! In between chukkas patrons hit the field to particiapte in ‘treading in the divetts’  although those in stilettos had to sit that one out!  


The weather looked seemingly grey in the morning but cleared to become and warm sunny day where picnickers and socialites alike enjoyed the polo atmosphere. 


The USA team including Luisa Crossley (-1), Sophia Crossley (1), Angela York (1),  Natascha Baecher (1) played off against the European team including Billie Mascart (-1), Sarah Martin (-1), Victoria Doolin (0), Nina Clarkin (4)- with the European team winning against the American 8 to 1. 


The Australian team Amanda Tolhurst (0), Katie Grimmond (0), Peta Gay Railton (0), Kristy Sullivan (2) then played off against New Zealand Alexandra Jones (1), Kirsty Hawkins (1), Missy Browne (1), Marnie Watson (-1) and won 7 to 1 crowing Europe as the overall winner with Australia as a close second. 


Entry was $5.00 and all proceeds went to the Australian Breast Cancer Foundation.
