Lucchese winner of the USPA Lucchese Silver Cup 


Lucchese scores in overtime to win the 2014 USPA Lucchese Silver Cup. 


Lucchese (John Muse, Jeff Hall, Sapo Caset, Tommy Collingwood) overcame a 3 goal deficit to ERG (Scott Wood, Remy Muller, Tincho Merlos, Sebi Merlos) in the 6th chukker to take the game into overtime.

Tincho Merlos opened the scoring for ERG in the first chukker, but Jeff Hall and Sapo Caset led the charge for Lucchese leaving the field with the first chukker score 2-1 in favor of Lucchese. Once again ERG scored the first goal of the chukker, with Sebi Merlos scoring at the mountain end of the field. Hall and Caset quickly added a point a piece with back to back goals. Tincho Merlos controlled the 3rd chukker offensively scoring 4 goals in addition to another goal by cousin Sebi Merlos. ERG led the game 7-6 going into halftime. 3 goals by each team in the 4th chukker tied it up 9-9. Lucchese had 3 costly fouls, giving ERG 3 open goals. TIncho popped one in at the mountain end of the field to put them up 13-10. Lucchese gained an advantage scoring 2 penalty goals and a field goal in the 6th to bring them to 14 goals and tie ERG 14-14. ERG missed a few attempts at goal in the overtime period. Sapo Caset was able to neck the ball in on the ocean side to end the game 15-14. 

Sapo Caset was awarded MVP and his horse, Estampilla won Best Playing Pony. 


Hall Family Silver Cup Tradition 


The Silver Cup trophy once again is in the hands of a Hall. Yesterday was the 8th time Jeff Hall has won the famous Silver Cup. His father, John Hall, has won it twice and his brother JW has won it once. His mother, Leigh Ann, was the first woman to win the Silver Cup. 

Klentner Ranch wins the James Colt Classic


Jesse Bray led the charge for Klentner Ranch scoring 8 of the teams 13 goals. 


After missing the last tournament final, Klentner Ranch was determined to bring home a win. Tete Grahn filled in for Tim Rudy on the Klentner Ranch team this tournament playing with father-son duo Justin and Jake Klentner and Team USPA’s Jesse Bray. Klentner Ranch commanded a strong 8-1 lead in the first half of play. Marcos Bignoli took  control of the 4th chukker on Rifle, who was awarded Best Playing Pony, to bring them within 3, 8-5. Jake Klentner scored at the end of the 4th on a long pass from Bray to finish the chukker 9-5. Klentner Ranch scored 4 more goals to end 13-7. Tete Grahn was named MVP and Marcos Bignoli’s horse Rifle was awarded Best Playing Pony.
