Mathias Guerrand Hermes

I am very sad to tell you that  – Wed Apr 21st at approx 8:30pm, Paris Time – Mathias Guerrand Hermes passed away.

Unfortunately the cancer which was only detected in August 2009, took him.

Mathias was a loving father  and leaves behind his Loves Julie and daughter Anna Lou 1, and Valescas 2 children – Lucien 10, Clea 8, and His loving parents Patrick & Martine.

Mathias was a passionate, determined competitor, a gentleman on the polo field and a great friend off the field. He  always enjoyed the camaraderie of his teammates  and opponents alike, and often after a game, a laugh, good wine and a gourmet meal together.  He was a gifted rider and had a full love and appreciation for his horses.

He was open, generous and kind, with a boyish enthusiasm for life and its many adventures.

He was smart, opinionated and enjoyed a lively discussion, but gentle and sensitive and showed much humility when appropriate.

He was a gifted athlete, skied hard, played squash, but he traveled the globe playing Polo, his passion, and at 2 goals h.c. represented France in Morocco, USA, Argentina, Spain, England, Malaysia, India, Dubai, Mexico, Iran and others.

Mathias played on the French National Team for 3 consecutive European Cups and Captained The 2008 French Champion Team at the European Cup in Rome.

He was a great friend, a brother in spirit and we will miss him very much on and off the field.

Team mate,

Bruce Colley
