Notes on Polo & Riding is a new old instructional book originally written in French by Captain H. Lavergne on the sport of polo in 1938 and riding in 1923. It remained unpublished for nearly a century and now translated into English and introduced by Tim Zee, a private equity investor and polo player, who came across the printer’s proof in a rare bookstore in New York City and publishing in homage to both the sport of polo and Captain Lavergne.
Highlights include original artwork and illustrations by the Captain, polo principles from the legendary American 10-goaler Tommy Hitchcock, handwritten notes attributed to Lord Louis Mountbatten, and complete facsimiles of the original French manuscripts.
The hardcover book is printed in a limited edition of 500 copies with all proceeds from the sale to be donated to the sport of polo and riding in memory of Captain Lavergne. The book is available from James Cummins Bookseller (www.jamescumminsbookseller). It will make a handsome addtion to any library and will be a classic.
