Tianjin’s most privileged members only, sporting and hospitality venue, which is being developed by leading Hong Kong-listed developer Goldin Properties Holdings Limited (SEHK. 283) – is proudly unveiled today. The prestigious Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club introduces the ‘Sport of Royalty’ to Tianjin, with two full-sized international standard polo fields – it is the largest facility of its kind in China. Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club is part of the Goldin Metropolitan project which is located in the thriving Binhai Hi-tech Park.

Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club includes two international standard polo fields together with associated training facilities, auxiliary polo sports facilities, 150 stables for thoroughbred horses, a theme park and club hotel – Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Hotel.
The Opening Game on 4th November 2010, a 4-chukka polo match between Team Goldin and Team UK, has brought in to town renowned international professional players from England, Australia and New Zealand to compete for the inaugural “Goldin Cup.”
The club currently has 60 polo horses from Australia in its stables and the number is expected to go up.
The professional international management team is headed by Paul Stevens, General Manager, formerly manager of Guards Polo Club, England. Also in the team are Derek Reid, Director of Polo Operations, who is a former Australian polo captain; John Fisher, Director of Stable Operations, who is a former England player and whose home club is Cowdray Park, England.

Next in the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club eventsLive calendar will be the first ever snow polo event in Asia – the Metropolitan Snow Polo Challenge Trophy. To be hosted in February 2011, this Snow Polo Cup event is intended to become an annual fixture in the international polo calendar, and a highlight of China’s social calendar. As the weather warms up, next in line is the Ambassador’s Cup which aims to foster inter-cultural and international relationships amongst polo teams around the world; The Goldin Charity Cup in October 2011, will be the biggest event of the year, promoting this royal sport in China and highlighting social responsibility and goodwill with a charitable component.

Four types of Membership
Being the most prestigious Club in China, memberships at the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club are strictly by invitation only. There are four types of membership: Social members, Equestrian members, Polo members and Polo Team Patrons. The Board of Governors of the Club will extend invitations to Chinese and International elites, as well as leading corporations to become its exclusive members.
