PIAGET, POLO AND THE PIERES BROTHERS – THE DYNASTY CONTINUES

PIAGET, POLO AND THE PIERES BROTHERS – THE DYNASTY CONTINUES

For more than three decades, Piaget has been a glittering presence in the glamorous world of polo, and now together with its polo ambassadors, Gonzalito, Facundo, Nicolas and Polito Pieres, truly personifies the art of mastering precision. While Piaget is known for manufacturing the finest watches in the world, setting many records in the process, the Pieres are widely regarded as the finest players in the world—three of them hold 10-goal handicaps.  Both the players and the Maison share important attributes like exceptional precision, enduring performance and total accuracy.

“Polo is inherently a glamorous sport—I always try to bring timing, style and perfection to my game, just as Piaget brings to the craft of watchmaking,” explains Facundo Pieres who has held a 10-goal handicap for over 10 years.  His brother Gonzalito adds, “Traditional values are at the very heart of our family, much like the Piaget brand, they have been passed from my father through to my children.”  Cousin Polito Pieres says he is “living the dream”—one that takes him on a jet-set lifestyle from the South of France to the lawns of England and the pitches of Argentina.

Piaget is proud to continue its partnership with the Pieres who will surely make history when they play together for the first time as family with their famed Ellerstina Piaget team in the 122nd Argentine Triple Crown.  The marquis event is comprised of the three top tournaments in the world (Tortugas, Hurlingham and the Argentine Open) and takes place annually from September through December.  In addition to drawing huge crowds in Buenos Aires, the Pieres are celebrated in Palm Beach, America’s premiere polo venue and the fabled enclave where the story of Piaget and polo first began.  It was in 1979 that Yves Piaget launched the first Piaget Polo watch at the Palm Beach Polo Club, where celebrities including Bond Girl Ursula Andress, Stephanie Powers and William Devane were frequent guests. Immediately iconic, the watch became a favourite of the beau monde and Piaget’s society/community grew ever stronger.

From the USPA Piaget Gold Cup held at The International Polo Club Palm Beach (which in 2015 featured three of the brand ambassadors in the finals), to the Piaget Hamptons Cup in New York, the brand also act as official timekeepers to the Coronation Cup at Guards Polo Club, the Goldin Group CharityPolo at Beaufort Polo Club, Polo Zurich Park, Switzerland and Sao Paulo do Brazil.
