International Polo Club Founder Arrested

Nearly three months after his involvement in a crash that killed a local University of Central Florida graduate, the founder of the International Polo Club Palm Beach has been arrested.

John Goodman was taken into custody early Wednesday morning by two Marshalls at the Four Seasons in downtown Miami on charges of Vehicular Homicide/Failure to Render Aid and DUI Manslaughter/Failure to Render Aid.

Goodman, 46, was brought to the Palm Beach County Jail and appeared before a judge Wednesday morning, when his bond was set at $100,000. He bonded out later in the day.

Scott Wilson, 23, drowned after his car was knocked into a Wellington canal Feb. 12.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Goodman ran a stop sign and collided with Wilson’s vehicle.

Under the conditions of his release, Goodman cannot drink alcohol, drive or leave Palm Beach County. Goodman must also take drug and alcohol tests three times per month, and he must report to authorities twice a week.

According to court records, Goodman’s blood-alcohol level was .177. The state legal limit is .08.

If convicted on both charges, Goodman could face up to 30 years in jail.
