Monterosso 10 – 8 Jindal Panther
The clash between Monterosso and Jindal Panther took place on The Duke’s Ground at Guards Polo Club on Saturday afternoon. Both teams had already secured a win, and this match would decide which squad was looking strongest in League One.
Alessandro Bazzoni’s Monterosso, winners of the Prince of Wales’s Championship Cup in 2023, came out best in this tussle. They won the match 10-8. They were comfortably ahead 5-2 in the third chukka with Cubi Toccalino making the most of any space and teaming up well with Diego Cavanagh, who had recovered from his opening game injury. Will Harper also had an impressive game, both in defence and attack.
Jindal Panther’s opening game had been an exhibition of long-range goals from both Nico and Facundo Pieres. Surprisingly, their accuracy was missing in this game with both Pieres boys sending crucial penalties wide. Jindal Panther closed the gap a little in the sixth but they did not have the lead once in this match and Monterosso ran out the well-deserved winners.
