Great Oaks LL 12 – 11 Talandracas
UAE Polo 14 – 8 Emlor
A fast game between Dillon Bacon’s Great Oaks LL and the Carmignac family’s Talandracas team – Max Voelker was playing in place of the patron, Edourad Carmignac today – was only decided in a seventh chukka and extra time. Great Oaks LL might have been ahead or were level throughout this match but with such talent on the field this game could have easily gone either way. However four goals from Talandracas in the final chukka ensured this game went into extra time. This took some time to complete after both sides had chances go to waste until Guillermo Terrera sealed the victory, by firing through the winner.
Sheikha Maitha’s main UAE team began their Cartier Queen’s Cup campaign today at Guards Polo Club with a convincing win over Spencer McCarthy’s Emlor. The Sheikha’s place was taken by the young Cata Lavinia who played with confidence and aplomb. Emlor’s patron was also on good form, firing through two goals for his team. Despite his best efforts, and plenty of goals from Emlor number 3 Tincho Merlos, UAE Polo Team were 9-3 up at half-time. Emlor rallied in the second half but it was not enough to alter the outcome of this match. Polito Pieres in particular was strong for the UAE team this afternoon, scoring at least six goals for the Sheikha’s team. The winners received the Royal Windsor Horse Show Cup, presented by the show chairman Mr Colin Brooks, and traditionally played for on the first Cartier Queen’s Cup weekend.
