20 GOAL USPA NESPRESSO AMERICA CUP
The second round of the USPA Nespresso America Cup was played on Sunday, July 20. The first game played at 1:00PM was between ERG and Farmers and Merchants Bank. Scott Wood is playing with a new team this season, Remy Muller (2), Tincho Merlos (9), and Sebastian Merlos (9). The new combo seems to be working well and the team was able to maintain a lead throughout the first half of the game. 3-2, 6-4, and finished the half 9-7. Though they were able to maintain a lead, Lucas Criado was giving them strong opposition scoring all 7 of FMB’s first half goals. ERG continued to be a force in the second half and pushed through to win the game 16-13. Lucas Criado of FMB scored 8 goals and Tincho Merlos scored 9 goals. Look out for these two throughout the rest of the summer season. ERG’s win guaranteed them a place in the final next Sunday.
Lucchese played Film Finance during the 3:00PM match. Leigh Breechen made her debut 20 goal appearance in this tournament and is proving to be a strong player. She is joined by Joseph Stuart (4), Santi Chevanne (8), and Paco de Narvaez (8). Santi Chevanne and Joseph Stuart are new to the SBPRC 20 goal. Lucchese is also playing with a new team this summer, led by long-time SB players Sapo Caset and Jeff Hall with Florida native Tommy Collingwood playing back. Lucchese began the game strong and was leading the 7-2 in the 2nd chukker and finished the 3rd 8-3. This did not deter Film Finance who came back from the half with a vengeance, scoring 4 goals in the fourth to bring the score within 1 8-7. Film Finance was able to tie the score in the 5th chukker with goals by Chevanne and de Narvaez. 2 late goals by Hall and Caset pushed Lucchese back ahead to win 11-10.
Friday’s game between FMB and Lucchese will determine who will play ERG in the final Sunday.

Thursday’s game between Klentner Ranch and Edelweiss will determine who will advance to the final against Film Finance/Dark Horse. It will be an exciting game for sure!
