
SAN ROQUE, Friday, August 15, 2025 – Brunei Polo Team was crowned champion of the Terralpa Medium Handicap Silver Cup this Friday, after beating Electric Polo by 11 to 10 in the final played on court 4 of Los Pinos.
This Saturday it will be the turn of the finals of the High and Low Handicap. The Terralpa Silver Cup is the second stop of the 54th International Polo Tournament. The tournament is divided into three levels of polo: High (20-22 goals), Medium (12-14 goals) and Low Handicap (6-8 goals), and the finals are scheduled to be played between Friday 15 and Saturday 16 August.
The match began with Electric Polo imposing conditions and taking control of the field, taking a 5-goal lead, since at the end of the second chukker they won 6-1. But the Brunei Polo Team gradually grew in its confidence and in its game from the driving of Matías Mac Donough from the back of the court, very well complemented by the power of Rosendo Torreguitar, the effort of Custodio Eleno and the offensive contribution of Azemah Bolkiah.
They arrived tied at 8 at the last chukker, and there the match again had several moments. Electric Polo started ahead, 10-8, thanks to goals scored by Félix Esaín and Tomás Delfino. But 2 penalty goals from Matías Mac Donough tied the game, and then a goal from Rosendo Torreguitar ended up giving the title to Brunei Polo Team.
As a prelude to the final of the Terralpa Silver Cup of Medium Handicap, La Martina beat La ESSSO by 10.5 to 10 and won the Silbon Cup, within the framework of the Low Handicap.
After the finals, it was the turn of the awards ceremony, in which, in addition to the protagonists, Ramón Hermosilla and Nicolás Hernández, from Terralpa; María Susana Sánchez and María Emilia Sánchez, from Bionesta; Álvaro Castillejo Preysler, from Ayala; Vittoria Morace, from Ammari Fragrances; and Carlos Galluzo, from Silbon.
Throughout the day, and naturally also after the awards ceremony, the public enjoyed the varied and attractive proposal of Last Chukker, with the Croft Twist drinks bar, food trucks, the shops inside the central pavilion and the Market that accompanies it on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition, the closing was in charge of Grupo Delajet, which gave a concert on the stage specially set up at Last Chukker.
On Saturday, August 16, it will be the turn of the High and Low Handicap finals: Amanara and Black Bears will define the highest category, while Calatagan and La Capilla will seek the title in the Low Handicap.
Admission to all the days of the 54th International Polo Tournament, both at Ayala Polo Club and at Ayala Los Pinos Headquarters, is free of charge. In addition, VIP Passes can be purchased for an exclusive experience throughout the event.
