SAN ROQUE, Tuesday, August 19, 2025 – The second date of the Sotogrande Gold Cup had action for the High Handicap, with two matches, and for the Low Handicap, which meant the debut of this category in the competition, since on Monday the High and Medium Handicap had already started their activities. The Gold Cup is the third stop of the 54th International Polo Tournament. The competition is divided into three levels: High (20-22 goals), Medium (12-14 goals) and Low Handicap (6-8 goals).
For the High Handicap, the recent winner of the Terralpa High Handicap Silver Cup, Amanara, beat Les Lions / Sainte Mesme in an intense and exciting match by 12 to 11. At the beginning of the sixth and final chukker, the latter obtained an 11-9 lead, but two goals from Lorenzo Chavanne and one from Bartolomé Castagnola turned the score in favor of Amanara, who ended up taking it 12-11. At the same time, La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal beat Whizmo in a hard-fought match that took place on court 4 of Los Pinos.
This Tuesday was the debut of the Low Handicap in the tournament, where 1896 Adrenalina and Essso were winners in their duels against Polo Valley and La Capilla, respectively.
Admission to all the days of the 54th International Polo Tournament, both at Ayala Polo Club and at Ayala Los Pinos Headquarters, is free of charge. In addition, VIP Passes can be purchased for an exclusive experience throughout the event.
