SAN ROQUE, Saturday, August 23, 2025 – Calatagan and Dos Lunas booked their ticket to the semifinals of the High Handicap Gold Cup this Saturday after the completion of Zone 1 of the competition. The Gold Cup is the third stop of the 54th International Polo Tournament. The competition is divided into three levels: High (20-22 goals), Medium (12-14 goals) and Low Handicap (6-8 goals).

For the definition of Zone 1 of the High Handicap Gold Cup, it was determined that the matches that Dos Lunas against Calatagan and MB Polo Team against Black Bears were to hold would take place simultaneously. Thus, after Calatagan’s 12-7 victory, and Black Bears’ victory in extra chukker 13-12 with a goal by Tomás Panelo, Zone 1 was made up of Calatagan and Dos Lunas at the top of the standings, so they became the semifinalists from this Group.

On Sunday, the action for the High Handicap will resume, with the last date of Zone 2. There, at the top of the standings is Amanara, who will face La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal, who has one win and 1 loss. At the same time, Les Lions / Sainte Mesme -1 win and 1 loss- and Whizmo -2 losses- will play.

HIGH HANDICAP ZONE 2 – POSSIBILITIES:
-If Amanara and Les Lions / Sainte Mesme win: Amanara will finish in first position and Les Lions / Sainte Mesme will be second.
-If Amanara and Whizmo win: Amanara will finish first and there will be a three-way tie in second place, which will result in a penalty shootout between La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal, Whizmo and Les Lions / Sainte Mesme to define the second semifinalist of the Zone.
-If La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal and Les Lions / Sainte Mesme win: There will be a three-way tie in the first position, which will result in a penalty shootout between Amanara, La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal and Les Lions / Sainte Mesme to define the two semi-finalists of the Zone.

-If La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal and Whizmo win: La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal will finish in first position and Amanara will be second.
