LA DOLFINA – MARQUIS OF RISCAL AND AMANARA, ARE SEMI-FINALISTS OF THE HIGH GOAL GOLD CUP
SAN ROQUE, Sunday, August 24, 2025 – La Dolfina – Marqués de Riscal and Amanara secured a place in the semifinals of the High Handicap Gold Cup this Sunday after the matches that ended Zone 2 of the competition.
The Gold Cup is the third stop of the 54th International Polo Tournament. The competition is divided into three levels: High (20-22 goals), Medium (12-14 goals) and Low Handicap (6-8 goals).
As happened on Saturday, for the definition of Zone 2 of the High Handicap Gold Cup it was determined that the matches that La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal against Amanara and Les Lions / Sainte Mesme against Whizmo were to be held simultaneously. Thus, after the victory of La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal by 13 to 10, and the triumph of Whizmo in extra chukker by 15 to 14 with a goal by Gonzalo Pieres, Zone 2 was made up of La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal and Amanara at the top of the positions, so they became the semifinalists from this Group.
Thus, La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal will play on Wednesday against Dos Lunas for one of the semifinals, while the other clash will be between Amanara and Calatagan.
For its part, this Sunday the fourth semifinalist of the Medium Handicap was also defined, as John Smith beat Santa Quiteria / Mondragón and joined the batch that already included Muda IZ Polo -which will be John Smith’s rival-, Brunei Polo Team and Electric Polo. The semifinals will be on Tuesday.
Finally, this Monday it will be defined who is the fourth classified to the semifinals in the Low Handicap when Sigma Polo Team and La Martina face each other. Essso, 1896 Adrenalina and Hartog Polo Team are already waiting in the next instance.
Admission to all the days of the 54th International Polo Tournament, both at Ayala Polo Club and at Ayala Los Pinos Headquarters, is free of charge. In addition, VIP Passes can be purchased for an exclusive experience throughout the event.
