SAN ROQUE, Friday, August 29, 2025 – Electric Polo was crowned champion of the Medium Handicap Gold Cup this Friday after beating Muda IZ Polo by 10 to 5 in the final played on court 4 of Los Pinos. This Saturday it will be the turn of the finals of the High and Low Handicap. The Gold Cup is the third stop of the 54th International Polo Tournament. The competition is divided into three polo levels: High (20-22 goals), Medium (12-14 goals) and Low Handicap (6-8 goals).

The match began with Electric Polo achieving the first differences on the scoreboard, especially from the good understanding of Félix Esaín and Pedro Chavanne from the back of the field, which led to their team being the protagonist at the beginning. Thus, Electric Polo took a 3-goal lead at the start of the fourth chukker. But the Muda IZ Polo team gradually grew in its confidence and in its game from the leadership of Facundo Sola, very well complemented by Ciro Urturi.

Electric Polo entered the last chukker with a 6-5 lead, and there the match entered a different stage, as Electric Polo scored a 4-0 run, bringing out their best polo until the final 10-5 that gave them the title.

As a prelude to the final of the Medium Handicap Gold Cup, La Capilla beat Sigma Polo Team by 10 to 9 and won the JP Financial Cup, within the framework of the Low Handicap.

After the finals, it was the turn of the awards ceremony, which was attended by, in addition to the protagonists, Paola Zóbel, President of Ayala Polo Club, who presented the Cup to the champions; María Emilia Sánchez, from Citi Re Reinsurance; Álvaro Castillejo Preysler, from Ayala Polo Club; Miguel Varela, from JP Financial; and María Cruz Conde, from Covetsol.

Throughout the day, and naturally also after the awards ceremony, the public enjoyed the varied and attractive proposal of Last Chukker, with the Croft Twist drinks bar, food trucks, the shops inside the central pavilion and the Market that accompanies it on Fridays and Saturdays.

On Saturday, August 30, it will be the turn of the finals of the High and Low Handicap: Amanara and Dos Lunas will define the highest category, while Essso and Hartog Polo Team will seek the title in the Low Handicap. The closing of the day will be in charge of the Delajet Group, which will give a concert on the stage specially set up at Last Chukker.
