DEBUTS WITH VICTORY FOR WHIZMO AND LA DOLFINA, HEIRS OF THE MARQUIS OF RISCAL IN THE TERRALPA HIGH HANDICAP SILVER CUP
SAN ROQUE, Tuesday, August 5, 2025 – This Tuesday the Terralpa Silver Cup continued with 3 matches, two of the High Handicap and one of the Low Handicap, within the framework of the 54th International Polo Tournament. The matches corresponding to the highest category took place in the afternoon at Los Pinos, while the Low Handicap match was held in the morning at Ayala Polo Club. The tournament takes place in three polo categories: High (20-22 goals), Medium (12-14 goals) and Low Handicap (6-8 goals), and the finals are scheduled to be played between Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16.
The High Handicap had a vibrant second day. After the start of Zone 1 on Monday, this Tuesday began the action for Zone 2, which included the debuts in the International Polo Tournament of Whizmo and La Dolfina Herederos Marqués de Riscal. And they both celebrated. The first of them was measured against the recent winner of the Bionesta Pharmaceuticals Bronze Cup, Les Lions / Sainte Mesme, who despite having made differences for much of the match, succumbed to a Whizmo that managed to turn it around, and won by 13 to 12 with a good goalscoring contribution from Guillermo Caset.
Next, it was the turn of the presentation of La Dolfina Herederos del Marqués de Riscal, who arrived in Sotogrande after having participated in the High Handicap season in England. And despite having a disadvantage of 3 goals as soon as the match started, they knew how to turn it around and managed to sentence it with a very good final minutes of Carlos María Ulloa, key to drown Amanara’s hopes.
On the side of the Low Handicap, the defending champion Calatagan defeated Essso with authority, in what was the debut for both in this International Polo Tournament.
The action will continue this Wednesday with matches for the Medium and Low Handicap, while the High Handicap will resume its activity on Thursday, August 7.
Admission to all matches of the 54th International Polo Tournament, both at Ayala Polo Club and at Ayala Sede Los Pinos, is free of charge. In addition, VIP Passes can be purchased for an exclusive experience throughout the event.
