TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR SEVENTH ST. REGIS INTERNATIONAL CUP AT COWDRAY PARK, MIDHURST, 17 MAY 2014

TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR SEVENTH ST. REGIS INTERNATIONAL CUP AT COWDRAY PARK, MIDHURST, 17 MAY 2014

The HPA and Cowdray Park Polo Club are delighted to announce the teams for the St. Regis International Cup, when Audi England will take on South America in the first of the UK’s international matches of 2014 on Saturday 17th May at Cowdray Park, Midhurst, West Sussex.

Leading the 26 goal handicap Audi England side is Luke Tomlinson, one of England’s two 7 goal players, who will play at back.  England’s other 7 goal professional, James Beim, has been called up to the number 3 position.  Both have a wealth of experience at international level.  At number 2 is another seasoned international, Mark Tomlinson, playing off 6 goals.  The number 1 position is taken by talented 23 year old player, Max Charlton (6 goals), who made his debut for England at senior level in the St. Regis International Cup in 2013.

All team members have previously played in the St. Regis International Cup.  With experience and a strong, evenly-balanced team, Audi England is hoping to reverse the 2013 outcome when they lost to South America 9-11.

The combined South American team will be captained by 6 goal player Nacho Figueras, now returned to full fitness following a fractured pelvis sustained in last year’s St. Regis International Cup.  He is joined by Guy  Gibrat , playing off 4 goals at number 1, Alejandro Novillo Astrada (8 goals) at number 2,  and Eduardo Novillo Astrada, at 9 goals the highest ranked player in the match,  in the number 3 position, making up a 27 goal team.

Following the St. Regis International Cup, a second match makes its debut at Cowdray Park. The Family Traditions at St. Regis Polo Cup will see St. Regis Connoisseur Nacho Figueras back on the field alongside his 14 year old son Hilario, as they play for the St. Regis side against Hurlingham, both teams featuring notable polo-playing family members.

Cowdray Park expects great spectator numbers for this exciting event. Tickets are £15 per head, under 12s free.  Arena-side picnic spots are available at £150 including 10 entry tickets and parking for two cars.  A retail village with food and bars and a children’s mini funfair add to the attractions.  Book online at www.cowdraypolo.co.uk or ring 01730 813257.
