Thailand Ladies International 2013

Thailand Ladies International 2013

Women polo players from Australia, New Zealand, UK, Malaysia, Argentina and the USA recently made their way to the idyllic resort Polo Escape in Thailand for the 2013 Ladies International.

Two of the world’s top female professionals attended for the first time, Argentine two goaler Lia Salvo and the famous three goal American Sunny Hale ensuring the polo was even faster and more competitive than ever before. Professional umpire Tim Kyte was present to oversee fair play and each of the four teams included a male player to boost the level further. The men were not allowed inside the 60-yard line on attack to score. Putting goals on the score board was down to the girls.

Over three days of tournament league games valuable points were gained for a win loose or draw. Leah Hamden’s La Boheme team, got off to a flying start from day one narrowly beating Kuppa. With the talented Lia Salvo on their side the team continued their winning streak throughout the tournament, even conquering Ploy Bhinsaeng’s mighty King Power team, giving La Boheme a clean run to victory as the 2013 Champions.

Not only was the polo a high level and fun, superb horses, excellent food, boutique villa accommodation, an exquisite infinity pool looking out over the polo field along with excellent evening entertainment made the whole event truly enjoyable. Greatly praised by all who attended, credit for organising this fantastic tournament goes to Polo Escape’s brilliant hostess Robin Louvranij and her sister Susy, helped along with the clubs manager and resident vet ‘Churo’ Pelligrini.
