It would seem England are unstoppable at polo at the moment, with Audi England having beaten the Rest of the World earlier in the month at Chester Racecourse, now there has been more English celebrations in France this weekend as England (Max Dear 0, Olly Tuthill 4, Jack Mesquita 1 and Freddy Dear 3) beat Ireland (Richard Fagan 1, Sebastian Dawnay 4, Max Hutchinson 2 and Stephen Hutchinson 1) 6-3 in the FIP European 8 Goal Championships in Chantilly.


With teams from The Netherlands, Italy, German, France, Spain and Austria competing alongside England and Ireland in this tournament which started on Thursday 4th September, England and Ireland were already through to the Final with two straight wins when they first met each other on Friday in the semis.  In the Final on Sunday 14th September it was 2 all at the end of the first chukka, then in the third Ireland drew ahead at 3-2 with a goal by Sebastian Dawnay.  The third chukka belonged to England with a 5-3 lead following goals by Max Dear, Olly Tuthill and Jack Mesquita and at the final bell England were declared the winners with a final score of 6-3.  The award for Best Playing Pony went to Olly Tuthill’s pony Cognac.
