At the start of the fourth date (second of Zone B) of the 84th Tortugas Country Club Open, in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake, they faced each other on Sunday 10/20 on field 5 of the local club, La Hache P. T. vs. The Hatchet & Polo.
In the duel of the Ulloa brothers, the victory corresponded to the team of the eldest, Hilario, who beat Toly by 16 to 12 and with two wins in as many presentations, was in a position to define the Zone next Sunday 27.
It was an extremely tight match with many fouls, in which La Hache P. T., with a great game by Polito Pieres, achieved victory and the pass to the definition of the Zone, eliminating the LH Cría y Polo team from the tournament, which despite the efforts of Facu Sola, the best player of his team on the day, they are still without victory so far in the 2024 Triple Crown.
Teams and progression:
La Hache P. T.: Pablo Pieres 9 (10 goals, four penalty and one corner), Hilario Ulloa 9 (2, one penalty 1) (injured, replaced by Lorenzo Chavanne 6 at 5.57 of the seventh chukker), Francisco Elizalde 9 (2) and Tomás Panelo 9 (2, one penalty 1). Total: 36.
The Hatchet & Polo: Facundo Sola 8 (7, six penalties), Carlos M. Ulloa 8, Benjamín Panelo 7 (2) and Joaquín Pittaluga 8 (3, one penalty). Total: 31.
La Hache P. T.: 1-0, 3-0, 6-1, 8-3, 8-5, 12-7, 15-9 and 16-12.
Yellow Cards: Tomás Panelo and Carlos M. Ulloa, 6.59 of the third chukker.
Judges: Guillermo Villanueva Jr. and Gonzalo López Vargas. Arbitrator: Hernán Tasso.
At the end of the fourth date (second of Zone B) of the 84th Abierto del Tortugas Country Club , in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake, played on Sunday 10/20 on field 6 of the local club, the recent runner-up of the 131st Hurlingham Open presented by Triumph, La Dolfina Saudi (with Guille Terrera in place of Adolfito Cambiaso) vs. La Ensendada.
With a goal by Alfre Bigatti 34 seconds into the extra chukker, La Ensenada won 14-13, a result that leaves La Hache Polo Team as leader of the Zone, which next Sunday 27 will have the chance to be a finalist if it beats La Dolfina.
The team from La Ensenada played a good polo game, closed the paths to La Dolfina, which did not have a good afternoon, and achieved a fair victory in the extra time.
Despite that victory, they have no chance of reaching the final, since in a hypothetical triple tie (if they beat La Hache CyP and La Dolfina beat La Hache), the goal difference is against them.
Likewise, a victory against one of the best teams in the Triple Crown and always a candidate to win a title, leaves them with great feelings to try for a new triumph in Tortugas and start the Palermo Open in the best way.
Teams and progression:
The Ensendada: Juan Britos (h) 9 (4 goals), Alfredo Bigatti 9 (3), Juan M. Zubía 9 (3) and Jerónimo del Carril 9 (4 penalties). Total: 36.
La Dolfina Saudi: Guillermo Terrera (h) 8 (2), David Stirling (h) 10, Adolfo Cambiaso (n) 10 (8, seven penalties) and Juan M. Nero 10 (3). Total: 38.
La Dolfina Saudi: 2-2, 2-3, 3-4, 6-6, 9-7, 10-9, 12-11, 13-13 and 14-13.
Yellow Card: David Stirling (h), 1.50 of the third chukker.
Judges: Gastón Lucero and Martín Pascual. Arbitrator: José I. Araya.
