Tortugas Open – Day 4

On Wednesday 10/15 on Field 6 of Tortugas, the fourth date (second of Zone B) of the 85th Tortugas Country Club Open began to be played, in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake.
Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufú Vista, with the return of Antonio Heguy after his meniscus surgery, beat La Hache Cría & Polo by 17 to 7 and thus was in a position to define the group next Sunday 10/19.

After a hard-fought first stage, in which LH Cría started better and then Ellerstina Chapa evened the actions, the team of the Pieres and the Heguy began to loosen up from the fifth set to take off on the scoreboard. With a great game from cousins Cruz – impassive in defense – and Antonio – scorer of the match in their return to the Triple Crown – well accompanied by brothers Facu and Gonza Pieres, the Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufú union played a great second half, which they won 11-2 and with this new victory, they will try to reach the final of the tournament on the last date of qualifying.

Fair Play: Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufu Vista not only won the game but was very correct and neat during the eight chukkers, a situation that is reflected in the few fouls committed (2, plus a technical) against the 13 of their opponent.

Teams and progression:

Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufú Vista: Facundo Pieres 10 (6 goals, four penalties), Antonio Heguy 8 (7), Gonzalo Pieres (h) 9 and Cruz Heguy 9 (4). Total: 36.
La Hache Cría & Polo: Bautista Bayugar 8 (2), Carlos M. Ulloa 8, Joaquín Pittaluga 8 (4, one penalty and one corner) and Ignacio Laprida 8 (1). Total: 32.

Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufú Vista: 1-2, 4-2, 5-3, 6-5, 9-6, 12-7, 16-7 and 17-7.

Judges: Guillermo Villanueva (Jr.) and Hernán Tasso. Arbitrator: José I. Araya.

Second Game

Closing the fourth date (second of Zone B) of the 85th Tortugas Country Club Open, in which the Emilio de Anchorena Cup is at stake, they faced each other on Wednesday 10/15 on Field 5 of Tortugas, La Ensenada Clonargen and UAE Polo, with the first of the named by a tight 15 to 14.

In this way, the winner of the Drysdale Subsidiary of the 132nd Hurlingham Club Open was left with some chance to play the final, since they must win their match and hope that UAE does it by only one goal advantage against Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufú Vista and scoring 14 goals or less.

Of course, the one that was best positioned in the Zone is the undefeated team of the Pieres and the Heguys, who achieving the victory against UAE or losing by up to one goal, but scoring 14 goals or more, will be the finalist. For its part, UAE will have to win their match by 2 or more goals to reach a new decisive match.

On the other hand, if La Hache Cría & Polo beats La Ensenada in the first round, the second match of the day next Sunday 19/10 automatically becomes a “semifinal”: the winner will be the second finalist of the tournament.
