
Spectators were treated to the option of 3 US Open Polo Championship matches on Friday the 30th March as all the teams played their first round matches. Golden goals, comebacks and shock defeats kept the audience on their toes.
Match 1:

In the first of 3 matches, Brookshire won against the CV Whitney and USPA Gold Cup finalists Coca-Cola by a score of 16-10, Jeta Castagnola scoring an impressive 11 of the 16 goals. Brookshire went 4-2 up in the 2nd and kept this advantage with 3 goals apiece per chukka until the final when Brookshire kept momentum and Coca Cola failed to find the posts.

Match 2:
Match 2 of the triple header saw USPA Gold Cup winners Park Place win against La Dolfina/Catamount by a score of 12-11 . A tight match saw La Dolfina/ Catamount leading throughout before an incredible 5-0 final chukka saw Park Place come back from an 11-6 deficit. Nicolas Sivori equalised with just seconds to go with a long range, angled neckshot through the posts sending the match into overtime where Hilario scored the golden goal to secure the win.

Match 3:

La Fe Eastern Hay won against The Dutta Corp by a score of 8-7 in the third match of the day. A great 4th chukka was enough to seal the deal for La Fe Eastern Hay in their first match of the US Open and despite Dutta Corp putting in a strong last 2 chukkas and keeping La Fe goalless, the damage was done.
