USPA Eastern Challenge Finals

In the first of the three matches for the day, Palm Beach Polo played Casablanca at 9:30.

Great teamwork saw that Casablanca score the first goal, after the ball was passed from Blakiston to Lalor to Grant who scored. Glenn Straub and Philip Kaye both scored to put PBP in the lead to end the first chukker.

The teams traded goals through out the match, but English import Philip Kaye proved most valuable. His four goals helped to deliver the win for Palm Beach Polo, who won with 11 to Casablancas 10.

Philip Kaye was named MVP of this match.

The second game of the day got underway as soon as the first was finished at 11am. Pony Express played Grand Champions in the consolation final.

Grand Champions got off to a flying start with two goals from Jauncito in the first chukker and another from Carlitos early in the second.

Matt Cohen started the third with a goal for Pony Express to keep things close.

Pony Express was always at least a goal behind, never quite managing to take the lead. Carlitos Gracida led the scoring with 5 goals, to help Grand Champions win with 11 to the 8 of Pony Express.

With the morning matches over, it was time for the finals to get started between Audi and Flight Options.

The ball was thrown in to play by Chef Shannon Atkins, who had prepared a spectacular Mother’s Day brunch for all of the guests at Grand Champions Polo Club.

Flight Options started the match with a goal on handicap. Mark Cann was the only one able to get a goal in the first chukker, putting Flight Options ahead by 2.
 

Flight Options spread the lead in the second chukker 4 to 2. Audi made its move in the third chukker and tied the game up with 4 goals a piece.

Rupert Lewis and Roberto Ganzalez took the lead for Audi in the fourth. The fifth chukker belonged to Guille Aguerro of Flight Options who scored 3 goals to reclaim the lead. In a closely fought sixth chukker Audi was able to take the lead and win thanks to goals scored by Marc Ganzi and Kris Kampsen. With a close final score of 8 for Audi and 7 for Flight Options.

Roberto Ganzalez was named MVP of the USPA Eastern Challenge Finals.

Best Playing Pony went to Yahoo who was played by Guille Agueero in the fifth chukker.
