Matias Magrini led all scoring with six goals, but it was the balanced MavOffice attack that carried the day as Pony Express lost in overtime on a safety by Tiger Kneece.  The USPA Silver Cup victory is the first for MavOffice (1-1) while the loss is the second for Pony Express (0-2).

Pablo Avalos scored the first goal of the game but watched as Horacio Onetto built on the one goal MavOffice got by handicap, scoring two first chukker goals to take an early 3-2 lead.

Goals from Magrini and Tomas Goti had Pony Express up 4-3 in the second chukker before Tom Uskup knotted it at 4-4 with a goal from the field.  Goti put Pony Express back on top with his second goal of the game, but Onetto had it all even at 5-5 after converting a penalty shot that would end the second chukker scoring.

Magrini and Goti added single goals in the third period to take a two-goal, 7-5 lead.  Uskup scored his second goal of the match to end the chukker with MavOffice trailing 7-6.

Pony Express and MavOffice exchanged goals in the fourth period with Magrini and Goti scoring single goals for Pony Express while Kneece and Uskup each added a goal for MavOffice.  Pony Express left the field with a 9-8 advantage.

Julian Daniels tied the score at 9-9 in the fifth chukker with Uskup’s fourth goal putting MavOffice ahead by a single goal, 10-9.  Pablo Avalos tied it for Pony Express, 10-10, with a chukker ending goal.

Scoring went back and forth in the sixth chukker.  Kneece scored first for MavOffice, followed by a goal from Pony Express 9-goaler Magrini.  Onetto converted a penalty shot for MavOffice for a short-lived one-goal lead.  Magrini tied the game at 12-12 with his sixth goal of the match.

MavOffice pressed the attack in the sudden-death overtime period with Pony Express being whistled for knocking the ball over its own endline in defense, resulting in a Penalty 6, or a Safety.  Kneece converted the 60-yard penalty shot for the win.

Magrini led all scorers with six goals.  Teammate Goti scored four times and Avalos added two goals in the loss.

Uskup and Onetto led the MavOffice team with four goals apiece.  Kneece scored three times and Daniels added a goal in the 13-12 victory.

Silver Cup competition will continue on Sunday, October 11 at 4 pm when Barrington (1-0) faces Bendabout (1-1).
