Kristy Outhier anchored a talented Altair team that downed Catena 8-5 in the WCT consolation final Sunday morning, April 5 at the International Polo Club.  Shaking off a tough, one-goal loss to the Parrot Heads in the semifinals the day before, Altair watched Catena build up an early 3-1 lead on the strength of opening chukker goals from Angela York and Kellie Torres.  Catena also received one goal by handicap.

Kristy Outhier and Ashley Van Metre accounted for the only scoring of the second chukker, with each of them scoring a goal for Altair.  Outhier scored the first goal with Van Metre carrying in the tying goal to end the chukker.

Torres evened it up again at 5-5 in the third period before Outhier countered with a penalty conversion for a goal and another goal from the field for a 5-4 lead.

Torres converted a penalty shot for a tying goal, 5-5, to open the fourth chukker, but Altair answered right back.  Outhier converted on her third penalty shot of the match followed by goals from Allison Henderson and Ashley Van Metre for the 8-5 final score.

Kristy Outhier led all scoring with five goals. Ashley Van Metre added two goals and Allison Henderson scored once in the win.

Kellie Torres scored three times for Catena with teammates Angela York adding a single goal from the field.  Catena received one goal by handicap.

Outhier was named MVP while Fernando Maciel Talvera’s Leona, ridden by Catena’s Erica Gandomcar, was named Best Playing Pony.
